Yeah, that sounds about right. I feel like I should start this with a couple of disclaimers, so let’s get them out of the way, capisce? I like watching their content, and in time of publishing, I have not gone through all the scandals the creators may or may not have been involved in. In line with that, we can separate the creator from the content, so we shall be focusing on the content that I particularly enjoy. If it is not your cup of tea, then thank you for reading. These are in no particular order, and none is a paid ad; I just like watching their content. So let’s get to it, shall we?

When I say I like watching their content, I mean I have watched at least 20 videos they have uploaded throughout their career, and if I want to have my own version of “conducive and constructive brainrot,” I will always watch them and learn a thing or two. Also, if I am struggling to sleep, at least two videos get me sleeping in an hour, so they can also be effective white noise, so to speak. I have also learned a looooooooooottt more from these channels than I ever would in a class or from books. Finally, most of them have an element of humor in their content, or awe, which works for me. I will include music channels because they have their own dedicated account, but some honorable mentions are Nairobi Nights Groove, Chill and Simp, DJ Festa, and DJ Tophaz; Ginger and Vanilla haven’t posted in a while, and so has DJ Lisney. For the final time, let’s get to it, shall we?
Yee Yee Life – They shoot everything and anything with guns, and now I know the penetration capacity of most guns they have on their channel; I hope bears all over Alaska are wary of the main character. Their slow-mo camera made the viewing experience so much better!
S2G et al. – I enjoy the career mode and occasionally Sidinho classics, and most of the time, if I am struggling with insomnia, a video can get me to sleep. If I also want to kill half an hour, these are my go-to couple of channels. I am not a big fan of S2G Collects, though. The editor is the funniest person in that channel.
Mrwhosetheboss – He always keeps me updated on what I need to know when it comes to tech. His editing is really good, and the Rick Rolls get me every time! His perspectives on tech are often fresh and make me feel like there is always more to the tech than meets the eye.
MKBHD – He always goes band for band with Mrwhosetheboss, and they often upload within days of each other. I like his storytelling style, and he makes it effortless because his setup is often him and a camera, and he doesn’t do a lot when it comes to having a whole production behind a video. I have recently started watching his car reviews, and I might be watching more of them soon.
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver – I started watching him once Colbert went off air, and I have never looked back. His analyses are often nuanced, and he goes to those rabbit holes so I don’t have to. Unlike other people who give you information and leave you high and dry, he always has a “what can we do ” segment and actually provides potential solutions, which is something I will try and emulate in everything I do.
The Daily Show – I started watching this because of Trevor Noah and have never stopped. I love their segments and how they can find the humor in everything. It is 25% of why I am funny, so I hope it never gets cancelled. John holds his weight, but the segments are often funnier than the main show; that is just my opinion.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert – I started watching this a year before it was cancelled and he really went out with a bang! I used to love “Meanwhile” segments because it condensed a lot of stories in under 10 minutes. The Great Big Joy Machine was a really good band, too.
Great Art Explained – All my art knowledge started from this channel. He always provides an in-depth analysis of popular and unpopular art and artists alike, and what I got is that there is still a lot of art out there to be seen, experienced, and loved. If you want to get into art, his channel is the best one to start with.
Luke O’sullivan – I came by this channel by mistake, and that might be the best mistake that ever happened to me. His content can be summarized in one sentence: what is that and what is the story behind it? As a curious person, he often lets his curiosity get the better of him and basically goes down rabbit holes on whichever topic of the day he is curious about. He has taught me a lot about London and the UK, and I am pretty sure I can never get lost in those streets. Pretty mad, that.
WillNE – His channel is similar to Luke’s, though on a grander scale and more global. He has a bigger budget, so by default, their curiosity will often lead to places abroad. The narrator’s dynamic with his best friend is often wholesome.
Sam Ellis – I think he used to work at Vox and then ventured to start out on his own. He often looks into what is going on in the world and uses maps a lot of the time, and all I will say is he is very good with design because I’ll be looking at maps all day and never get bored. I love how he always has experts to fill in the blanks.
Plaantik – His channel has one of the best stories about what is going on in football and some of the best graphics, too! He used to do “interview outros” or soundbites, and I haven’t seen them of late, but those ensured that I stayed up to the end of the video.
FutCrunch – He has some good football and football-adjacent content that makes his videos fun to watch. I can classify him as a “travelling football content creator” because he is always on the road or doing some challenges.
John Nellis – He has very similar content to FutCrunch, and maybe more access to players and football events; wait, I think they go band for band, though he has not posted in a while.
Basic Footy – He is the funniest football content creator I know, and his content speaks for itself. He happens to be an Arsenal fan, which makes it even funnier. He uploads a lot, so that works in the viewer’s favor. He is always on top of trends in fanbases and after-match analysis, so if you don’t have a Twitter timeline as active as mine, you won’t miss a beat when you watch his videos. I have lost count of how many times I recommended this channel to Nyx.
CBS Sports Golazo – If you miss the UCL matchday with Kate, Thierry, Jamie, and Micah, their channel often posts the best bits.
Tifo Football by The Athletic – This is a recent addition, and I like their analysis of football tactics; it makes it easier for me to understand the game better.
Rio Ferdinand Presents – I love watching the player interviews because it shows a different side to global football icons that I would have never known.
Manchester United – That goes without saying! I used to love the Barbershop, but they have not posted about them in a minute! I also love their behind-the-scenes content.
The Long Play – Jordan has always been one of the best when it comes to sports storytelling, and I hope he triumphs over his recent setback. I still love his content and will always stay tuned for when he will spray that deodorant bottle without flinching!
Lollipopman Comics – The best F1 channel by far, and I always wait for their post-race reimaginations of the race, and yes, they’re the funniest F1 channel by far.
Kym Illman – If you are curious about the behind-the-scenes of F1, this is the channel for you, and as always, stay passionate! I think I want to take more pictures like him, so when I am in my photography bag, I will look to his pictures as inspiration.
Nick Murray Willis – His doodles often make my day whenever I want innovative and out-of-the-box creativity when it comes to content. With him, you never know what you’re going to expect.
Useful Charts – If you want to know lineages and are curious about the history and origins of stuff, look no further. He has a soothing voice that might sometimes make you feel drowsy, so I would recommend watching his videos in the morning, or when you can’t sleep.
Vox – One of the best edits on YouTube, and their content is really good, though nowadays it seems to focus a lot on American politics. I still watch their under-fifteen-minute videos and stopped watching their long-form podcasts; that is not my cup of tea.
The XYZ Show – Maybe I am chasing nostalgia, but I still watch their content and laugh more often than not.
Honest Trailers – They review films in a funny way that always leaves me laughing. My Letterboxd reviews are inspired by them. Epic Voice Guy can always have my money!
Pitch Meetings – Conceptually similar to Honest Trailers, but the execution is tight, and more often, it is super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Nomsynho – He often gives “flipped” perspectives on a lot of films, and they often turn out to be funny and make you look at a movie with fresh eyes.
Ak Editx – He is probably the best editor on the planet for music with filmography. He syncs actions with beats with almost superhuman accuracy, and if you want a quick hit of dopamine, this channel is for you.
Free Documentary – I love their stories about journeys on African roads, and I have learned more about road culture and local travelling than from any map or content creator.
The Promised Land – Season One was a blast, and I am waiting for Season Two!
Rabbit Hole – It is in the name and often feeds into my curiosity about the most random of stuff.
Cleo Abram – She was also from Vox and started her own channel and, once again, feeds her curiosity and always backs it with science. Everything she works on could be Huge* if true.
Mythbusters – Probably chasing nostalgia again, but it’s also an effective way to kill an hour or to have as background when working on something.
Susan Wanjiku – She has been very crucial in my money journey, and I am wiser financially because of her. If you don’t know what or how to start with money, I really recommend her channel.
Yoga with Adriene – There was a time I was into fitness, and her content was simple and straightforward. I will go back to it once I start going to the gym (sometime this week or early next week).
Ads of Brands – This is for marketers, and I love the ingenuity of most ads, which always remind me that there is no limit to creativity.
Chef Raphael – He is the only chef I know who makes cooking simple, and most of my recipes originate from him with some tweaks on my end.
Awkward Puppets – One of the funniest channels I watch religiously, and the recent interviews are even funnier. Can you help me do the outro, please?
If you’ve read up to here, you have a really long attention span, so congratulations! I was torn between linking all of them, but I have, so if your curiosity has been piqued, you can watch a video from them and tell me what you think.
Of course, there are some I have forgotten, but when I remember, I shall add them to this list if I revisit them in the future. As I bid you adieu, I have to ask: which YouTube channels do you fancy?
From Me To You

A lot has been happening, and I have been outside, even though I have a nasty cold. With my sickness, these YouTube channels kept me company, and I will always be grateful to the millions of creators who wake up every day and create something and put it out there; you are my heroes!
How was work? Well, something somewhere is always happening, and I now know how to organize and prioritize my time, so it is much more bearable than not.
For the October babes, I hope your favourite YouTube creator always makes content that makes you happy or relaxed, and may they and their creativity never burn out.
In other news, I am confident Gracie has a version of cat-cold because he is sneezing like a cat with phlegm buildup.
